What is a trade dollar?
A trade dollar is a term we use for dollar valued credits in a tCashe account. They represent the trade value amount of an asset balance or a debt. If one owes a dollar trade, he normally does not owe in cash, he owes that value of goods and /or services. Since this debt carries no interest charge it can be the best credit card for a business or individual to have. What a trade dollar is may be made clearer if we also point out what it is not. It is not legal tender. It is not a security. It is normally not actual cash money. The businesses and persons cooperating in the tCashe accounts do so voluntarily under a contract which asks them to honor the card and account under a set of rules in exchange for the privilege of having their card and account honored when they wish to achieve similar discount purchases. Exchange operations such as WTE were put under formal IRS regulation in 1982 and are required to report activities to clients and the IRS via an annual 1099B form reporting all income received. While we do not consider these accounts to be "money", they do have similar properties. The IRS considers an Exchange to be a third party record keeping service which keeps track of the value of goods and services in these transactions.
Asset balances of trade dollar credits in a tCashe account are applied toward purchases to save cash. If an individual has a $100.00 billing at a member dentist he may use the credits to save cash up to 45% for an individual account (ie the cash billing on the card is only $55.00). Since the trade credits are given out as free bonuses to individual members, this can be a 45% overall discount. This should apply to sale prices or whatever price is agreed upon. It is not a discount from some fake full retail price. Business accounts may work at even better discounts up to and including 95% trade. (This is 100% trade adjusted by our 5% cash service charge.)
The use of trade dollar credits for purchases is only feasible at those businesses and individuals who have voluntarily agreed to join the group and accept the tCashe card in a manner much like cash or a major credit card. We invite all group members to sponsor and refer new individual members and businesses into the group which makes it better for everyone.
The Western Trade Exchange has operated in the El Paso Southwest employing these basic techniques since 1977. We invite prospective members to check references or the Better Business Bureau for our record and recommend before a business or individual participates in an exchange operation, they do this check with the BBB. It is quite easy to perform such a check with the El Paso BBB. Simply call the 24 hour computer at (915) 577-0191 with a touch tone telephone and key in the 10 digit telephone number of the business you wish to check. We recommend you do this with any business, including any of the businesses listed here.
